Gary Logan - Personal Injury Lawyer
Retired counsel, Gary Logan, Q.C joined Malhotra, Stayshyn & Wilson in February 2010. His involvement in the firm is focused on mediation and as a consultant.
Gary Logan is a graduate of Victoria University where he received his B.A. in 1961. In 1964, Gary received his LL.B. in 1964 from Osgoode Hall, and was called to the Bar with Honors in 1966. In December 1978, Gary was appointed Queen’s Counsel. In 1990, he completed a Mediation course with the Canadian Dispute Resolutions Company.
Gary was a Junior Solicitor with Bray, Schofield, MacKay and Kelly in Kitchener in 1966. From 1967 to 1981 he was a partner at the law firms of Korz and Logan in Cambridge, where he practiced Civil Litigation, Criminal Litigation and appeared before many Administrative Tribunals. In 1981 Gary joined Gore Mutual Insurance Company as Claims Counsel, where he undertook defence of Insurance and Injury Claims. In 1987 he became a partner at Henderson’s Structured Settlement. In 1989, he became an Associate and Counsel at the Law Firm of Stanley M. Tick and Associates in Hamilton, where he practiced Insurance and personal injury law until his retirement in 2004. While there he also worked on the Walkerton Class Action 2000.
Throughout his legal career Gary Logan was a member of several Legal organizations, including the Law Society of Upper Canada, the advocates Society, the Waterloo Country Law Association; the Hamilton Law Association and the Canadian Bar Association. Gary was also a member of the Kitchener-Waterloo Legal Aid Area Committee for 8 years between 1969 and 1992.
Since Gary’s practice involved insurance law, he was a member of several insurance organizations including the Insurance Institute of Ontario, the Ontario Insurance Adjuster’s Association and the Defence Research Institute.
Gary has always been an active member of the community. From 1967 to 1977, he was a member of the Preston ‘Junior’ Chamber of Commerce and held the positions of Director, Secretary, Vice-President and President. Other community activities included membership in the Galt International Rotary Club from 1977 to 1982; Secretary and President of the Preston and Galt Chapter of the Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society from 1972 to 1978; President of the Preston Speed Skating Club from 1978 to 1980; and member of the Board of Management at Wesley United Church for 3 years.
Today Gary continues his community involvement in Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. In Haldimand, he has been a Board Member and Volunteer at the Selkirk Centennial Community Centre for nine years. In Norfolk County, he represents the Villages of Port Rowan at the local Chamber of Commerce. He is also eager to volunteer his time to help out with events and maintenance within the Adult Living Community where he now resides.
