The Honourable Walter T Stayshyn - Personal Injury Lawyer
Former Superior Court Justice, Walter T. Stayshyn joined Malhotra Stayshyn & Wilson in November 2009 when he retired from the bench. His practice is focused on Mediations and providing advice to other lawyers.
Walter Stayshyn is a graduate of McMaster University, having received his B.A and having also been awarded his Letter in Football and Basketball. Following his undergraduate degree, Walter attended Osgoode Hall Law School.
Mr. Stayshyn has always been very active in the Hamilton Legal Community. He was Auditor of the Hamilton Law Association from 1970-1974. He has also been very involved with Legal Aid as Chairman in 1973 and Director of Legal Aid in 1974. Mr. Stayshyn was President of the Hamilton Lawyers Club in 1974.
Mr. Stayshyn has also been very involved with the Hamilton Health Community. He was on the executive committee of the Hamilton-Wentworth District Health Council from 1987-1992 and was chairman from 1989-1990. He was on the Board of Trustees for St. Joseph's Villa Foundation from 1987-1996 and was Chairman from 1992-1994. He was a member of the Hamilton Hospitals Joint Action Committee for 6 years in the 1990s and was Chairman in 1993 and Honorary Chairman of the Hamilton-Wentworth Multiple Sclerosis Carnation Campaign from 1994-1995. He was also Chairman of the Hamilton-Wentworth AIDS Steering Committee from 1987-1990. Mr. Stayshyn has also been a member of many other executives and Boards throughout Hamilton.
Mr. Stayshyn was a member of the Ontario District Court Judges Association and was director in 1987. He was also a member of the Canadian Judges Conference and The Ontario Superior Court Judges Associates. He was member of the International Commission of Jurists (Canadian Section).
Mr. Stayshyn is a member of the McMaster Alumni Association and the McMaster Letterman's Association, where he was on the Hall of Fame Selection Committee from 1985-1996.
Given his vast accomplishments, Mr. Stayshyn has be recognized in Canada's Who Who since 1988 and ongoing, which is the book recognizing distinguished Canadians.
